Carole Jury is a French contemporary artist based in Houston, Texas. Her work explores the intersection of memory, emotion, and materiality through abstract painting, creating immersive compositions that move beyond representation to capture the essence of lived moments.
Inspired by her own photography, she transforms fragments of reality into layered, tactile surfaces where texture and light evoke sensation rather than image. Her process is intuitive and evolving, allowing forms to emerge gradually through the act of painting.
Working primarily with oil, Carole embraces the medium’s depth and slow drying time to build her compositions through successive layers. This approach creates rich, almost sculptural surfaces, where gestures, material presence, and transparency reflect the complexity of memory-fluid, fragmented, and deeply personal.
Materiality is central to her practice. She incorporates recycled materials from her studio, giving a second life to discarded elements. This process introduces a dimension of transformation and renewal, while also reflecting an environmentally conscious approach.
Carole Jury has exhibited internationally and has been a regular participant in Miami Art Week since 2017. Through various series, her work explores themes of time, perception, and emotional resonance, offering viewers open spaces for interpretation and connection.
Balancing control and spontaneity, her paintings invite a personal dialogue, where each viewer can project their own memories and emotions.
